My wife and I love labs! Our children are also hooked on them! We are a family operation, raising only 1-2 litters of puppies a year. Our dogs are part of our family and are involved with our daily lives. We have a 20 year history of taking great care in upholding the integrity of the Labrador Retriever breed. When breeding we thoughtfully plan to produce top-quality puppies that are intelligent, well-tempered, good hunters, and less prone to health issues. We're always happy to answer questions and show you some outstanding labs!

COMPANION DOG PROGRAM
We do not have a kennel system, by design, so that our dogs are able to socialize and be part of our family, train, run hunt tests, hunt, and most importantly just live an enriched life.
As our program has become more successful with puppy placements, and proven family and hunting companions, we want to grow our breeding program without sacrificing the quality of life for our dogs. A Co-ownership program allows us to keep breeding rights on our dogs (pending health clearances) while allowing that dog to live with a family and be someone’s companion. The companion owners are responsible for typical ownership expenses, but Prestons will cover all breeding, health testing, and whelping of litters. A companion home is a permanent home for the dog.
Being a companion to a Preston dog gives you a select opportunity to own an exceptional dog as a family pet and/or hunting companion. Companion owners will not pay full price for a dog. In exchange Prestons own the breeding rights and hold the registration papers. The price to co-own a dog is reduced to $500.
A female will only have 1-2 litters in this program and co-ownership with Prestons will be guaranteed to be completed by the time the dog turns age 5. Once retired from the breeding program, the dog will be spayed at Preston’s expense and completely given over to her companion family. At this time, the registration will also be turned over and changed to the companion owner's name.
Companions are responsible for all general care expenses (food, veterinary, training, etc). Prestons will be responsible for all health testing and breeding related expenses (progesterone testing, stud fees, registration, etc). Should a dog not meet health testing requirements, he or she will not be admitted to the breeding program and registration will be signed over to the companion owner. Spaying is required prior.
Companions will be compensated $50 per puppy OR $300 per litter (whichever is greater) once puppies are placed in their homes. It is possible to visit your dog and her litter during the the time she is with us.
If for any reason the companion family needs to exit the agreement, the dog MUST come back to Prestons without any exceptions. Any severe injuries (or worse) due to negligence will result in removal of the dog from the companion owner's care.
The following are companion home requirements:
Be willing to teach basic commands such as sit, stay, lay-down, and leave it.
Be willing to socialize the dog.
Dog must be an indoor pet.
Feed a premium, quality food.
All other dogs in the home MUST be fixed if they are the opposite sex.
Provide regular exercise.
Contact Prestons immediately in the event of a serious illness or accident.
